Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has been admitted to intensive care after collapsing during a Spanish second division match against Andorra on Monday. The 30-year-old is in stable condition, according to a club statement, following a collision with goalkeeper Jesus Owono that led to the fixture being abandoned deep into stoppage time with the score tied at 2-2.

De Miguel is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest while being transported to the hospital and was revived inside the ambulance, according to Spanish media outlet Marca. While stable, he remains unconscious.

The incident occurred in the seventh minute of stoppage time as De Miguel prepared to counter-attack. He appeared to be struck in the chest by Owono's knee while the goalkeeper attempted to clear a long ball near the halfway line. After initially staying down, De Miguel became motionless, prompting medical staff to rush onto the pitch.

His teammates were visibly distressed during the more than five minutes of treatment on the field, with some reportedly in tears. Owono was initially shown a red card for the challenge before the referee ultimately decided to abandon the match. A standing ovation from the crowd accompanied De Miguel as he was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.

Andorra also issued a statement expressing their support for De Miguel, sending strength and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the player, his family, and Tenerife. Despite remaining unconscious, reports indicate the player is breathing on his own.
