Robin Wright says fans shouldn’t expect a sequel to The Princess Bride. In an interview published Friday with AARP’s Movies for Grownups, the actress, who played Princess Buttercup in the 1987 fairy-tant, explained that a follow-up is unlikely. “Sometime after we hit the 30-year mark, the cast did a Zoom call, and a couple of actors were like, ‘We’ve been asked if we’ll do a sequel,’ and I was like, ‘Well, a lot of us are going to be in a wheelchair,'” Wright recalled. “So no, that will never happen.”

The discussion comes as The Princess Bride approaches its 40th anniversary, with the milestone set for 2027. Wright noted the film’s enduring appeal and its warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The ensemble cast, including Billy Crystal, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn and Chris Sarandon, is often described by Wright as more like a family than a group of co-stars. She said the production was a “giggle-fest,” with long days on set punctuated by social gatherings and shared meals that strengthened their bonds. Wright remembered how she and Cary Elwes, Rob Reiner, and Christopher Guest would gather for potluck dinners and evenings of music after filming wrapped for the day. ![Robin Wright](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/09/1987-tm-copyright-20th-century-111745866.jpg?w=1024
