A wife who smeared her own feces in her husband's mouth during an argument at their £1 million farmhouse has been given a suspended prison sentence. Alison Moore, 63, attacked her husband after he allegedly failed to defend her at a pub, Southampton Crown Court heard.
During the incident on August 20, Moore reportedly told her husband, "You talk so much s**t, I'm going to make you eat it." She then forced feces into his mouth. Before cleaning himself, the husband took a photograph of himself smeared with feces, which was presented to the court. Police were called, and Moore was arrested.
The prosecution stated that Moore subjected her husband to several violent attacks over a period, including hitting him in the face with a wedding ring and striking his back with a broom handle. Photographs presented in court showed injuries to his eye and back.
Moore's defense attributed her actions to a perception of an imbalance in the relationship, depression following the deaths of her parents and sister, and a lack of self-control, partly related to alcohol. She expressed regret and took responsibility for her actions, stating her behavior was not justifiable regardless of her husband's conduct.
Moore pleaded guilty to three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She was handed a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to undergo rehabilitation activities and complete 100 hours of unpaid community work. She was also ordered to pay compensation to the victim and court charges.
The judge acknowledged the victim's "magnanimous" statement and the degrading nature of the assault, noting that personal circumstances did not excuse her behavior. Moore has previous convictions for drunk driving, assault, and violent entry.
