Russell Brand and his wife, Laura, voiced concerns about the possibility of the comedian going to prison weeks before he was found guilty of rape. During an episode of their "Sunday Service with the Brands" podcast on October 11, Laura read a message from a supporter who had spent five years in prison and was praying for Brand, whose trial commenced three days later.

The supporter's message stated, "You will get through it. The presence of God is everywhere — in prison as well." Brand then interrupted his wife, expressing his dislike for situations where imprisonment is a possibility. Laura acknowledged this, explaining that "that's the nature of what a trial is." Brand agreed, recognizing that a prison sentence was a potential outcome of his trial, which he described as "one of the challenges."

At the conclusion of the podcast episode, both Laura and Russell Brand offered a prayer for "peace and love and for all the participants in this trial or any trial."

Brand was found guilty on November 5 of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault after a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court. The judge, Justice Joel Bennathan, indicated that Brand would receive a "significant" prison sentence. Brand was acquitted of two additional rape charges and one count of attempted indecent assault.

Laura Brand, who was present in the courtroom, reportedly became emotional upon hearing the verdict. She was seen leaving the court without her husband, who was denied bail and taken to a holding cell. The Metropolitan Police are also investigating Brand for additional rape allegations made by two women, following his conviction.

Brand's trial involved seven charges in total: three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. These charges stemmed from alleged incidents involving six women between 1999 and 2009, which first came to light in a September 2023 exposé by The Sunday Times. Brand, who was previously married to singer Katy Perry from 2010 to 2011, had pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations.

Laura Brand testified on her husband's behalf in court on October 29, describing him as a "caring, kind and a wonderful father to our children." She also stated that they share an "honest, frank, and clear relationship and marriage," emphasizing that honesty is a crucial element of their relationship. Brand and Laura have been married since 2017 and have three children together.

Brand is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday. Legal experts estimate he could face up to ten years in prison.
