Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of footballer Ezekiel Williams, 26, who was seriously injured in an early-hours street assault. A third man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three are from Luton.

Williams, a midfielder for Hendon FC, was injured in an altercation on Midsummer Boulevard in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, just before 2 a.m. on November 1. He passed away in hospital on Monday afternoon, ten days after scoring his first goal for the club. Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation.

Detective Inspector Rob Underhill stated that officers are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. "We recognise this incident will cause concern within the local community," Underhill said, adding that there would be an increased police presence in the area. He appealed to anyone who was in the vicinity of Midsummer Boulevard and The Hub between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, to come forward, particularly those with mobile phone footage, dash-cam footage, or CCTV recordings.

Hendon FC expressed shock and heartbreak at the announcement of Williams' death, describing him as a "humble, unassuming and generous individual with a razor-sharp wit." The club noted that Williams joined in September and quickly became a popular member of the team, known for his hard-working displays. The club's London Senior Cup tie against Woodford Town has been postponed.

Williams also played for FC Romania, Northwood, and Harrow Borough. Kettering Town FC paid tribute to his leadership qualities and kind nature, stating that his example would continue to inspire.

Organizers of a GoFundMe fundraiser described Williams as a "truly special son, brother and friend" known for his willingness to help others and his infectious positivity. They noted his dream of becoming a professional football player and his dedication to achieving his potential.
