The FBI is expected to search two storage units in Los Angeles rented by Thomas Markle Sr., father of Meghan Markle, for possible additional child abuse images, according to reports. This development follows an alleged tip-off from Markle's son, Thomas Markle Jr.
Thomas Markle Jr. reportedly told the FBI about the existence of two storage units that his father has maintained for approximately 15 years. He claims one unit is filled with furniture and possessions from Meghan's time at Northwestern University, while the other contains memorabilia from his own Hollywood career and items from Meghan's college days. "I dread to think what they might find," Thomas Markle Jr. was quoted as saying, referencing prior discoveries.
Authorities have been investigating allegations of child abuse material found in a storage unit rented by Markle Sr. in Rosarito, Mexico. The Daily Mail alerted the FBI to this find, which led to a raid by Mexican authorities. The FBI is also reportedly investigating after Scotland Yard shared a letter from Markle's late ex-wife containing allegations.
Separately, police in the Philippines are nearing formal charges against Markle Sr. after child abuse images, including footage of minors, were allegedly found on digital devices at his apartment in Cebu. Philippine police reported finding "Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material" and are conducting further analysis. Major General Wilson Asueta stated that none of the children in the videos appeared to be from the Philippines but looked "Asian [or] Caucasian."
Markle Sr. has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them "sick lies" and suggesting he was "set up." He admitted to paying for sex in the Philippines but insisted it was only with adult prostitutes.
Markle Sr. moved from Mexico to the Philippines in January of the previous year before relocating to the U.S. in May following the amputation of his lower leg. He is reportedly now living in a care home in Florida specializing in dementia care.
