Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has released a video compiling what he describes as broken promises made by former President Donald Trump and his administration. The 15-minute video, titled "The Great Betrayal," uses Trump's own words and those of his administration officials to question claims made on issues including the war with Iran, inflation, fuel prices, and the handling of Jeffrey Epstein files.
Carlson, who has had a complex relationship with Trump over the years, previously supported his presidency but later expressed private frustration. Text messages revealed as part of a court case showed Carlson stating in January 2021, "I hate him passionately" and that he "can’t wait" to stop paying attention to Trump. He had also amplified the "great replacement" conspiracy theory. Despite this, Carlson endorsed Trump for the 2024 election and appeared at his rallies.
Earlier this year, Carlson publicly stated he felt "betrayed" by Trump regarding the war with Iran and expressed regret for his past support of the president. The release of "The Great Betrayal" appears to mark a further public distancing from the former president.
