Liberals and Democrats have adopted Ella Langley's country mega-hit "Choosin' Texas" as their own following recent US midterm election results, transforming the song into an unexpected liberal anthem.

The track, which previously became a symbol of Trump's America and achieved chart history this year, is now being embraced by Democrats who saw significant victories, including flipping Texas from red to blue for the first time in over three decades.

"Officially the most liberal song ever made!" influencer Horace Gold commented on a viral Instagram reel lip-syncing the tune. Another user on X remarked, "MAGA got YMCA, woke got Choosin' Texas," while another posted about the song seeing "another 26-week run on the Billboard chart because the other side of the country takes it over..."

Democrats James Talerico, who defeated Republican Ken Paxton to become the first Democrat elected to the state's Senate delegation in 38 years, and Gina Hinojosa, who ousted Texas Governor Greg Abbott, celebrated their wins with a soda at a local Whataburger while "Choosin' Texas" played in the background. The post, featuring the song, was shared on Instagram.

This shift in perception comes after Republicans suffered significant losses in the midterms, losing control of the House and the Senate. The victories in Texas, which has not elected a Democrat to any statewide office since 1994, dealt a blow to President Donald Trump and helped secure a Democratic Senate majority.

Following the midterm outcomes, "Choosin' Texas" returned to No. 1 on Apple Music and climbed to No. 3 on Spotify's Top Songs chart in the US. The song had already secured a record-extending 26th week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, surpassing hits like Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" for the most weeks at the top.

While Langley herself has remained publicly neutral on her political beliefs, famously posting a photo of a t-shirt that read "Democrat, Republican, country music" with only "country music" checked, other country artists have been more vocal. The Chicks, for instance, performed with "f**k Trump" banners at a Los Angeles concert on Tuesday night, with lead singer Natalie Maines welcoming the crowd to a "bluenami night" and celebrating Texas, the Senate, and the House turning blue.
