Washington Wizards star Trae Young's attempt to rip a Jalen Brunson jersey during an appearance at Fanatics Fest on Saturday was unsuccessful, leading to online commentary.
Young, known for his past playoff matchups against the Knicks, appeared on stage at the Javits Center and attempted to tear a Jalen Brunson jersey in half. Video from the event shows Young struggling with the jersey for nearly 30 seconds before ultimately tossing it into the crowd.
Following the event, Young addressed the stunt on social media, posting a video of himself watching past highlights against the Knicks and stating, "I just be trolling sometimes," accompanied by laughing emojis. He also added, "Happy for some of my boys over there fr!" with salute and praying hands emojis.
Young has a history of antagonizing Knicks fans. In 2021, he famously bowed to the crowd at Madison Square Garden after leading the Atlanta Hawks to a playoff series victory over New York. Jalen Brunson, the reigning NBA Finals MVP for the Knicks, was not on that Knicks team when Young led the Hawks to the series win.
