Despite career-best performances from running back Braelon Allen and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, the New York Jets suffered a 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. The offensive duo's achievements were overshadowed by the team's inability to capitalize on their production.

Allen recorded 147 rushing yards, showcasing his potential as a lead back in the absence of the injured Breece Hall. In five starts, Allen has averaged 5.4 yards per carry and 100 yards per game with two touchdowns. However, he only received three carries in the second half, including a 21-yard touchdown run, after tallying 18 carries for 121 yards in the first half.

"The objective every week is to win," Allen stated. "There are positives always — love our progress as a team, as an offense — but when you are supposed to win and when you don’t do that, it’s hard to enjoy."

Mitchell, returning from a four-game injury layoff, finished with 142 receiving yards, becoming the fourth different pass catcher this season to achieve a 100-yard game for the Jets. He made a significant 47-yard catch into the red zone from quarterback Geno Smith.

"We worked that play during the week, we got the look we wanted," Mitchell said. "Geno threw a great ball and we were able to convert." He later added, "Credit to the OC [Frank Reich] and Geno for still believing in me. You try to take advantage of every opportunity."

Allen and Mitchell were instrumental as the Jets scored on each of their first six possessions, a feat not accomplished since 2008. Despite the offensive output, the team could not secure the victory.

"We just didn’t do enough to win," Mitchell commented. "No matter how the game went, the only outcome we are looking for is a win."
