Baltimore Ravens third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano believes he will be ready to play in Thursday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite sustaining injuries during Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Fagnano entered the game after both starter Lamar Jackson and backup Tyler Huntley were injured. He completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with one interception. Jackson suffered a thumb injury requiring surgery, which will place him on injured reserve and potentially end his season. Huntley sustained what is believed to be turf toe and is scheduled for an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.
"After a football game, you’re always going to have some bumps and bruises," Fagnano told reporters postgame. "We’ll kind of see, but yes."
With their top two quarterbacks sidelined, the Ravens (4-4) are in a precarious position ahead of their matchup with the Jaguars (5-2). Head coach Jesse Minter acknowledged the team will need time to assess their options under center.
"We’ll have to see what, obviously, [Huntley’s] status is and make sure Joe made it through the game OK," Minter said. "We’ll figure that out over the next 24 hours."
Baltimore went 1-2 when Huntley started in Jackson's absence earlier this season, and the team now faces uncertainty with a third-stringer potentially taking multiple snaps.
