San Francisco Giants legendary broadcaster Mike Krukow announced he will retire after the 2026 season, concluding a 36-year career in the broadcast booth. Krukow has been managing body myositis, a degenerative muscle disease, for the past two decades, and this condition has prompted his decision to step down.

"I don’t want to quit. Unfortunately the rules change, first from year to year and then month to month and now it’s day to day. It’s becoming unsafe," Krukow told NBC Sports Bay Area. "My home in Reno is much safer, and it really is the determining factor in how I can’t do games anymore."

In an official statement released Thursday, Krukow expressed gratitude for his tenure. "Jennifer and I have been so blessed to be able to stay in the game for as long as we have and it’s really made it impossible to feel sorry for myself that my career is coming to an end."

Krukow's career in broadcasting is notable for his partnership with Duane Kuiper, forming the "Kruk and Kuip" duo that became a beloved fixture for Giants fans. Before his broadcasting career, Krukow also played in Major League Baseball for several teams, including the Chicago Cubs and the Giants.
