Luis García Jr. has shared a heartfelt farewell message to the Washington Nationals organization and its fans following his trade to the New York Yankees. García, who signed with the Nationals as an international free agent in 2016 and made his MLB debut in 2020, spent seven seasons with the club before the deal was finalized Sunday. The trade also sent pitchers Yovanny Cruz and Jake Bird, along with prospects Ben Grable and Jack Cebert, to Washington.

In a lengthy post on Instagram accompanied by photos from his time with the team, García expressed his "heartfelt gratitude" to the Nationals for their belief in him. He extended thanks to all levels of the organization, including the front office, coaches, trainers, medical staff, and clubhouse personnel, for their guidance and support. "I have grown not only as a player but also as a person because of the incredible people I had the privilege of being around every day," he wrote.

García also acknowledged his teammates, thanking them for the "memories, the battles, and the brotherhood." He specifically addressed the fans, expressing deep appreciation for their "passion, loyalty, and unwavering support." Describing Washington as a "second home," García stated he was departing "with nothing but gratitude, respect, and appreciation" for everyone he encountered during his tenure.

The infielder joins the Yankees with a .283 batting average, 23 home runs, an .873 OPS, and a .560 slugging percentage this season. The Yankees clubhouse reportedly expressed excitement about the addition, with player José Caballero noting, "I know he’s a great hitter. Excited to see him here and what he can contribute for the team."
