Ball State redshirt junior quarterback Keldric Luster is generating national attention ahead of the team's upcoming game against No. 1 Ohio State. Luster, listed at 5-foot-10 and 250 pounds, possesses an unusual physical profile for a quarterback, drawing comparisons such as a "bowling ball" from Ohio State fan site elevenwarriors.com.
Luster, a native of Texas, acknowledged the buzz surrounding his size. "I’ve been riding with a chip on my shoulder my whole life, so it’s really nothing that phases me, honestly," Luster told the Muncie Star Press. He also drew a parallel to Kyler Murray, a successful NFL quarterback of a shorter stature, stating, "I feel like the sky’s the limit for me."
His playing statistics thus far include seven appearances for SMU from 2023-2024, where he recorded 37 passing yards and 76 rushing yards. He transferred to Texas State for the 2025 season. In total, Luster has appeared in nine games. "I feel like, seeing the measurables, I surprise a lot of people," Luster said. "But I’m confident in my game, and I know there’s people out there that’s confident in my game as well. At the end of the day, I’m just ready to display it on Saturdays and show this Muncie community and Ball State program what I can do this year."
