Graham Potter, currently the head coach of the Swedish national team, has appeared to criticize his former clubs Chelsea and West Ham following a fan's critical comment on his Instagram post. A fan mocked Potter's Pilates exercise, suggesting he was better at the activity than managing football teams.
Potter, who took charge of Sweden in October, responded to the fan's comment on his Pilates session, writing, "I'll try not to do Pilates in a dysfunctional place and I will be okay." He later added, "Easy tiger. I never mentioned West Ham or any club," when a fan identified as being from West Ham commented. Responding to another user who advised him to "ignore the haters," Potter conceded, "Of course I am responsible for my part but unfortunately lots happen at football clubs to determine success or failure not just one man! COYI."

Potter's tenure at Chelsea, which ended in 2023, lasted less than seven months, with the team winning 12 out of 31 matches. He described the period as a "perfect storm," citing fixture congestion around the 2022 World Cup and significant player investment by the new owners in January 2023. "If you are spending £300m on players coming from outside the Premier League, from countries having a mid-season break, then the reality is you can't just imagine they are going to hit the ground running and everything's going to be fine," Potter stated in 2024. He noted that the substantial spending increased pressure on the team and himself, particularly as new signings were acquired mid-season without prior Premier League experience.

Potter returned to management with West Ham in 2025 but was dismissed after just five games into the last season. West Ham was ultimately relegated at the end of that season, with Nuno Espirito Santo overseeing the majority of the campaign. Potter's time at West Ham also coincided with fan protests against the club's ownership.

Despite the challenges at his previous English clubs, Potter has found success with the Swedish national team. He took over in October and managed to salvage their World Cup qualifying campaign, guiding them to the finals. Sweden was eliminated in the round of 32.
