UFC President Dana White has stated that the promotion will not be hosting Pride Night events, citing a personal lack of interest. In a recent interview with Tomi Lahren, White was direct when addressing the possibility of such events, saying, "I'm just not into it."
While the UFC has previously organized events to celebrate cultural observances, such as their "UFC Noche" events for Mexican Independence Day, White indicated that Pride events are not on the promotion's agenda. He commented on the potential presence of LGBTQ+ fighters within the UFC roster, stating, "I'm staring at my roster of top 15 fighters. You know, I'm assuming we have some gay fighters. I don't know how many of them are openly [gay]. I know that we have gay female fighters. I don't give a s***. I don't care what you are, who you are, what you do. We don't talk about that, any of that stuff."
White pointed to a UFC t-shirt featuring a rainbow flag as an example of the promotion's acknowledgment of Pride, adding, "Everybody, do your own thing. I'm just not into it." This t-shirt, however, was not readily available for purchase online.
Fans on social media noted that a decade ago, the UFC actively promoted Pride-themed merchandise. Around 2016, some fighters wore UFC-designed shirts that displayed the slogan "We are all fighters" in rainbow colors. These shirts are no longer available for sale.
In March 2023, Jeff Molina became the first openly LGBTQ+ male UFC fighter, coming out as bisexual. Several female fighters have also been openly LGBTQ+, including former two-division champion Amanda Nunes.
Separately, White also addressed comments made by UFC heavyweight Josh Hokit regarding former first lady Michelle Obama. Hokit had made controversial remarks during an interview with Joe Rogan following a fight. White expressed his displeasure with Hokit's comments, stating, "You think I'm happy about what Josh Hokit said? I'm trying to unify the country and he goes out and says something absolutely stupid like he did that night." However, White also affirmed his belief in free speech.
