Chelsea has placed a valuation of up to £35 million on defender Trevoh Chalobah, having recently turned down a £22 million bid from Italian Serie A club Como. The offer came from Como's manager, Cesc Fabregas, a two-time Premier League winner with Chelsea, who is keen to bolster his squad for the upcoming season.
Talks between Chelsea and Como are expected to continue as both clubs assess the possibility of reaching an agreement for the 26-year-old centre-back. However, the deal could face complications due to interest from other clubs in Chalobah, who is currently with the England squad at the 2026 World Cup, having been called up as a replacement for the injured Tino Livramento.
Chelsea's valuation, as understood by Daily Mail Sport, comprises an initial fee of £30 million with an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons. The club's willingness to sell stems from a need to generate funds through sales of central defenders this summer. Chelsea is actively looking to recruit at least one new centre-back, with inquiries reportedly made about Maxence Lacroix of Crystal Palace, while currently having nine defenders on their roster.
Adding to the financial considerations, Chelsea will not participate in European competitions next season, potentially impacting the distribution of playing time among the squad. The club is also nearing the announcement of its first summer signing, Marco Palestra from Atalanta, a versatile full-back and wing-back. Sources at Chelsea have indicated that Palestra's arrival is not expected to affect Josh Acheampong, a Cobham academy graduate viewed primarily as a centre-back. Despite interest from Premier League and international clubs, Chelsea considers the 20-year-old Acheampong not for sale.
