Celtic Football Club is nearing an agreement to sign Bosnian international midfielder Ermin Mahmic from Slovan Liberec for an initial fee of £7 million, with potential add-ons reaching £1.5 million. The 21-year-old creative midfielder was identified by Celtic scouts before his performances for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup, where he scored against Qatar and Switzerland.

Mahmic has reportedly set his sights on a move to Glasgow, despite attracting interest from other major clubs following his World Cup displays. His arrival would mark manager Martin O’Neill’s fourth summer signing and could potentially facilitate the departure of Reo Hatate. Celtic has already invested £30 million in new players this summer, including Camilo Duran, Kasper Hogh, Mika Baur, and Haissem Hassan. The club's transfer spending is supported by significant income from player sales, such as those of Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels, Maik Nawrocki, and Luis Palma.

In addition to Mahmic, Celtic is also in discussions to sign teenage full-back Landon Emenalo from Chelsea on a year-long loan. A minor injury had previously delayed the deal, but negotiations have reportedly resumed. Emenalo, 18, would provide cover at left-back for Kieran Tierney.

O’Neill is also actively seeking to strengthen the team’s midfield with a defensive anchor, with Hajduk Split’s Canadian international Niko Sigur currently listed as a primary target.
