Coritiba center back Jacy Maranhão was injured after celebrating a goal that was ultimately disallowed in a match on Sunday.

The incident occurred late in the first half of Coritiba's game against Chapecoense in Brazil's top flight. Maranhão, believing he had scored his team's second goal, tucked the ball under his shirt and jumped over the advertising boards to celebrate with fans. However, he landed in an open, square-shaped hole that led to the stadium's locker rooms.

Maranhão disappeared briefly into the tunnel before reappearing. Although he initially fell, he quickly stood up and continued his celebration. He reportedly finished the first half but was forced to exit the game in the second half due to an injury sustained from the fall.

Adding to the frustration, the goal was later overturned by the video assistant referee due to an offside ruling.

This is not the first time a similar incident has occurred at Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira in Curitiba. In 2014, former player Joel also jumped into the tunnel during a celebration, though the opening was covered by a tarp at that time.
