U.S. Men's National Team star Folarin Balogun scored the opening goal against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a World Cup Round of 32 match on Wednesday, giving the Americans a 1-0 lead.
As halftime approached, Balogun received a pass from Malik Tillman and converted the opportunity. He celebrated the goal by performing LeBron James' "silencer" move. Balogun had a previous shot called back for offside before scoring the go-ahead goal.
Balogun has scored three goals in the tournament so far. The U.S. entered the match with momentum despite a loss in their final group-stage game against Turkey.
"The game is going to be about us and what we're prepared to do, and what we have to do to advance," Balogun said before the match. "It’s crunch time. This is the business end, and this is the stage where, in my opinion, the big players step forward and the big players carry the pressure and make things happen."
The U.S. reached the semifinals of the inaugural World Cup in 1930. Their only knockout stage victory came in the 2002 tournament when they defeated Mexico in the Round of 16. The current tournament has expanded to 48 nations, including an additional knockout stage.
