49ers Rookie Receiver De'Zhaun Stribling Placed on Injured Reserve
The promising rookie will miss at least the next four games with an ankle injury.
The San Francisco 49ers have placed rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling on injured reserve, the team announced.
Stribling sustained an ankle injury during the 49ers' season opener in Australia and has been ruled out for at least a month with a deltoid sprain. This sidelines the promising receiver for a minimum of the next four games.
Stribling emerged as a breakout star during training camp and the preseason. He was the top-rated offensive rookie in the preseason according to Pro Football Focus, catching 11 of 13 targets across two games. His absence is a significant loss for the 49ers' receiving corps.
The team is already managing injuries at the wide receiver position. Christian Kirk has been sidelined since training camp with a calf issue, which had previously opened up opportunities for Stribling in the 49ers' offense.
