Danny Pintauro, known for his role as Jonathan Bower in the 1980s sitcom “Who’s the Boss?,” is currently working five jobs to make ends meet and receives no residual income from the show that propelled him to fame.
Pintauro, 50, revealed his financial situation on the “Pod Meets World” podcast, detailing how he is among a growing number of actors who supplement their income with various gig jobs. "We have to do what we have to do to survive," he stated.
Pintauro described his work as a collection of "gig jobs," with acting being just one of them. In addition to pursuing acting roles, his employment includes delivering packages for Amazon, coaching acting, teaching classes and workshops, and building and selling dioramas. "We’re gig actors. Acting is the gig. It’s one of the six gigs," he explained.
The former child star noted that the public's perception of his Amazon delivery work shifted after he elaborated on the financial realities faced by many working actors. He recalled being ridiculed years ago for taking a summer job at Gap while still on “Who’s the Boss?”
Pintauro starred on the ABC comedy from 1984 to 1992 alongside Tony Danza, Judith Light, and Alyssa Milano. He recently appeared in the 2022 film “A Country Christmas Harmony” and is slated for the 2025 TV series “The Comeback Kids.”
