Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Vivienne, has officially dropped her father’s surname. A Los Angeles judge granted the 18-year-old’s petition to legally change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie during a hearing on Monday.
Vivienne’s attorney, Peter Kenneth Levine, appeared remotely for the hearing. Judge Virginia Keeny presided over the proceedings at Los Angeles Superior Court’s Stanley Mosk Courthouse, reading aloud the names of those whose petitions had been approved.
Vivienne initially filed her petition on July 20, eight days after her 18th birthday. In court documents obtained by Page Six, the teenager cited “personal” reasons for wanting to remove “Pitt” from her surname. She has already been publicly using her mother’s last name for over two years, being credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of “The Outsiders,” which she helped her mother produce.
Vivienne joins three of her siblings who have also legally dropped Pitt’s surname. In September, Zahara, 21, officially changed her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. Her older brother, Maddox, 25, also legally removed “Pitt” from his name that same month, becoming Maddox Chivan Jolie.
Shiloh, 20, was the first of the former couple’s six children to legally drop their father’s last name. She filed her petition on her 18th birthday in May 2024, and her request was granted that August. Vivienne’s twin brother, Knox, also omitted “Pitt” from his high school diploma earlier this year, though he has not been confirmed to have legally changed his name.
Jolie and Pitt also share son Pax, 22. The name changes come amid the ongoing estrangement between the children and their father following the couple's contentious split. Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, and the former couple were declared legally single in 2019. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024 after an eight-year legal battle. The exes remain involved in a separate legal dispute over their French winery, Château Miraval.
