Tyler Duckworth, a two-time champion of MTV’s reality competition series “The Challenge,” has died at the age of 44. His mother, Joni Duckworth, confirmed his passing in a Facebook post on Thursday, stating that the cause of death has not yet been determined.

“My son, Tyler, passed away earlier this week,” Joni Duckworth wrote. “Cause of death has yet to be determined. I will post on Facebook about services as soon as his dad and I figure it out.”

Later that day, People reported that Duckworth’s body was discovered in the bathtub of his North Dakota apartment on Tuesday. Responding officers were initially called to the scene after downstairs neighbors reported water leaking through their ceiling. Upon arrival, police found that the water was coming from Duckworth’s overflowing bathtub, where he was found unresponsive.

Officials have classified the death as unattended, meaning there were no witnesses present. While it is unclear how long Duckworth had been deceased, he was reportedly seen the day prior. Police have stated that there were no immediate signs of foul play or a suspicious death, and the cause of death is pending autopsy results.

Duckworth, known to fans as “Ty-Guy,” first appeared on “The Real World: Key West” in 2006 before going on to compete in six seasons of “The Challenge.” He secured victories in the 2010 season “Cutthroat” and the 2011 season “Rivals.”

His mother shared a heartfelt tribute to her son on Friday, saying, “My Ty-Guy would skip to school when he was little. He has now gone on to a better place where the hurts and challenges (pun intended) are no longer.” She added, “Tyler found his passion in teaching and he was good at it. I understand his students loved him. He taught world history. He loved history and geography and as he had traveled the world over I am sure he brought many insights to his students.”

Joni concluded her statement by addressing Duckworth’s friends and fans: “To all of Tyler’s friends and fans — God bless you for loving my Ty-Guy.”

Duckworth’s last public appearance was on July 31 at a Challenge Mania event in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He shared a photo from the event on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the fans of the franchise.

A source also claimed to The US Sun that Duckworth had recently undergone surgery, though it remains unclear if this was related to his death.
