Graham Norton has revealed Taylor Swift's specific instruction when she was booked for a last-minute appearance on his show last year: no one was to be bumped from the lineup. Swift appeared on the British talk show in October 2025 while promoting her album "The Life of a Showgirl."
Norton recalled the incident in a recent interview with British GQ, explaining that the show's schedule was already full. "The last time - she was a very last-minute booking," he said. "The show was fully booked. So we thought, we're going to have to bump somebody."
However, word came back from Swift: "No one must be bumped." Norton noted that this ultimately led to a memorable show, as all the guests ended up appearing in Swift's "Opalite" music video. "And that was a good show to be on because everyone ended up in the Opalite music video. Everyone."
The music video for "Opalite" was released in February of this year. It featured Norton and the other guests from that night's show: Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Lewis Capaldi, and Jodie Turner-Smith. Swift had explained on Instagram that the idea for the music video came to her while she was a guest on Norton's show. She was inspired when Gleeson made a joke about wanting to be in one of her music videos.
"Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an idea," Swift wrote. "It would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn't mandatory."
Norton expressed his delight at being included, stating in April that Swift had "made his dreams come true" by asking him to appear in the video. "I said to Taylor at the time, often in your 60s you begin to give up on your dream of appearing in a major pop video. But she made it happen for me… So, all in all, a really great experience," he said during a Q&A session for his ITV reality show "The Neighbourhood."
Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently tied the knot in an extravagant wedding in New York City. Norton was among the 1,000 guests in attendance at the ceremony held at Madison Square Garden. The couple also recently attended the wedding of Kelce's former teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster in California, and were seen vacationing in Montana. Swift's private jet was also recently spotted landing in Palm Beach, with Kelce seen disembarking with a Samoyed dog, believed to be their new pet.
