David Letterman and Matt Damon made surprise appearances in the season 4 premiere of HBO's "The Gilded Age." The cameos occurred in the episode titled "Ring The Bells," which is now streaming on HBO Max.

Viewers who watched closely would have spotted the two celebrities walking down East 61st Street approximately 8 minutes and 44 seconds into the episode. Their brief moment on screen came after a scene involving Hector, the Duke of Buckingham, and before guards were seen outside the Russell mansion.

Both Letterman and Damon were dressed in period-appropriate attire and sported facial hair fitting the Gilded Age setting. Damon, in particular, appeared with a different look than his usual clean-shaven style.

Damon has previously shared his appreciation for HBO's acclaimed series, mentioning in an earlier interview that he was introducing his daughters to shows like "The Wire," "Breaking Bad," and "The Sopranos."
