Strictly Come Dancing professionals Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu are set to trade the dance floor for the television screen as they join the lineup for Celebrity Gogglebox. The duo will offer their commentary on the week's biggest and best TV moments.
Speaking about their upcoming appearance, Dowden expressed her enjoyment of the experience, noting, "Celebrity Gogglebox was fab-u-lous! I'm so used to being on my feet performing, it was such a treat to sit back, laugh, and react to all those brilliant shows." She added that it was a pleasure to share "genuine, feel-good moments with Carlos and everyone watching at home."
Gu echoed her sentiments, stating, "I had the best time – honestly, it was so much fun! I'm very expressive anyway, so you can imagine, I don't hold back when I'm watching TV!" He described the show as being "all about emotion, humour and just enjoying yourself, and that's exactly what I love. It felt like me and Amy were having our own little party on the sofa!"
For their Gogglebox debut, Dowden and Gu are seen with a spread of snacks, including pretzels and popcorn. Gu expressed a preference against sugary snacks, joking that "Too much sugar, it ages you. You don't want to be aged by sugar!!"
The pair are familiar faces on television and are also known for their live tour, "Amy and Carlos: Reborn." They are expected to return for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, following recent changes to the professional lineup. Several professional dancers, including Gorka Márquez, Luba Mushtuk, Michelle Tsiakkas, Nadiya Bychkova, and Karen Hauer, have reportedly been dropped from the show.
Gu previously spoke about the significance of Strictly, calling it "the best platform you can ever be on" for dancers to showcase their talent and highlighting that for him and Dowden, "it's more than just a job, just work, it's our life."
Dowden and Gu will be joined on Celebrity Gogglebox by other notable personalities, including Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally, Olivia Attwood and her mother, Gladiators stars Matthew Morsia and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, content creators George Clark and Max Balegde, and the television duo Julian Clary and Nigel Havers.
Celebrity Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9 p.m. on Channel 4.
