Sir Cliff Richard has unveiled a glimpse of his upcoming 2027 calendar, showcasing his "silly side" with a collection of vibrant and playful poses from various international locations. The 85-year-old singer, who has been releasing annual calendars since the 1970s, continues his tradition with this, the 49th edition.
Among the featured images is a shot of Richard in a tuxedo T-shirt, holding a "his lordship" mug. Another pose sees him embracing the psychedelic aesthetic of the 1960s and 70s, clad in a rainbow T-shirt and round, yellow-tinted sunglasses, set against a backdrop of colorful bottles.
This year's calendar also includes a heartfelt tribute to Richard's late friend, Cilla Black, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 72. One image depicts Richard on the back of a boat, where the name "Cilla" is visible, accompanied by two glasses of champagne. The two artists shared a close friendship for approximately 50 years, beginning in the 1960s when they were both prominent figures in British pop music. Their bond extended beyond their chart success into their television careers, and they often spent time together in locations like Barbados, where both owned homes, and Marbella.
"My favourite pastimes are travelling and spending quality time with friends and the pictures in the 2027 calendar are a small snapshot of some wonderful times in May and June this year in various locations," Sir Cliff stated. "I am delighted to be sharing these with you in my 2027 calendar, of which, I am so proud. It might be a bit early but a happy 2027 to you all."
Sir Cliff's calendars have historically been strong sellers, reportedly amassing around £2 million in sales since 1979, a figure that has surpassed that of David Beckham. His 2022 calendar was noted as the best-selling for any music artist, according to Calendar Club, outperforming releases from Elvis Presley and Harry Styles. While his 2023 calendar saw him move away from topless poses, stating it was "time to gracefully exit the Chippendales market," his annual offerings continue to be a popular fixture.
In addition to the calendar highlights, one image features the singer reading a book titled "It's Great To Be Young," which he authored.
Danilo Promotions, a calendar sales tracker, ranked Sir Cliff's 2024 calendar in fourth place for sales, with Taylor Swift topping that list. Harry Styles did not feature in the top five for that year.
