Sheryl Crow has revealed an "incredible" connection to Wales, sharing that her mother's family originated from the country. The nine-time Grammy winner spoke about her Welsh heritage during an appearance on BBC Radio Wales.

Crow recalled visiting Wales for the first time around 1990 with her parents while touring as a backing singer for Michael Jackson. Although she is unsure of the specific region her family came from, she expressed an interest in researching her background, suggesting she might take a DNA test.

During the conversation, Crow also touched upon the legacy of country music icon Dolly Parton, whose family tree has been traced to Machynlleth in Powys. The BBC Radio Wales host, Bronwen Lewis, shared that she had collaborated on a Welsh language version of Parton's song "Jolene" with Parton and her niece, Jada Star.

Reflecting on Parton's death, Crow spoke about the singer's impact and philanthropy, particularly her Imagination Library program. Crow stated Parton's selflessness prompted her to consider her own contributions to humanity and her community.

Crow, who was born in Missouri, began her professional singing career nearly 40 years ago. She has since collaborated with numerous artists and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.
