Sharon Stone, who achieved global fame after her role in the 1992 film "Basic Instinct," has shared in a recent interview that she has been celibate for a significant period. The Oscar nominee revealed on Mayim Bialik's "Breakdown" podcast that her romantic endeavors have been unsuccessful recently, leading her to reassess her relationship priorities.

"I’ve been celibate for quite a while now," Stone, 68, stated, emphasizing that she now seeks a companion rather than just a sexual partner. She expressed feeling "kind of bored" with the latter and is willing to remain in a phase of romantic "no luck at all" to find the deeper connection she desires.

With her three sons—Roan, 26, Laird, 21, and Quinn, 20—now grown, Stone indicated that her perspective on relationships has evolved. She previously was married to Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1987 and later to journalist Phil Bronstein, with whom she shares Roan. They divorced in 2004.

Stone also reflected on not having yet experienced what she considers the "great love of my life." She recalled a psychic's prediction that she would meet a life partner in her late sixties, a prediction she noted is now her current age.

Stone joins a number of other public figures who have spoken about embracing celibacy. Musician Lenny Kravitz shared in 2024 that he had abstained from sex for nine years. Actor Julia Fox cited the 2022 rollback of abortion rights as a motivation for her choice to abstain. Additionally, Tim Gunn, former mentor on "Project Runway," revealed on the "Dear Chelsea" podcast in February that he has been celibate for 43 years following a past infidelity, a lifestyle he found prepared him for the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
