Sarah Jayne Dunn, 44, has shared insights into her fitness regimen, emphasizing strength training and pole fitness as crucial elements in maintaining her physique and overall well-being. Dunn stated that she does not take her health for granted and aims to be a role model for other women.
"Consistency is key," Dunn told the Daily Mail, highlighting how her dedication to exercise helps her feel "connected to her body." Pole fitness has become a central part of her routine, driving her to improve and stay motivated. Complementing her pole training, she engages in weightlifting, which she deems essential for women, particularly as they age.
"It's important that we lift heavy weights," Dunn said, explaining that this builds the strength necessary for advanced pole techniques. The physical activity not only enhances her performance but also boosts her confidence and pride in her body's capabilities. She noted the human body's resilience, referencing her own experience of growing and raising a child.
Dunn also addressed societal pressures on women to maintain smaller physiques, which she views as a form of control. She advocates for a focus on strength and health, asserting, "I want to be that role model where other women see me and see I'm strong and I'm healthy and I eat well."
She likens neglecting the body's need for nutrients to failing to put fuel in a car, stressing the importance of proper nutrition to support an active lifestyle. Dunn is also training to become a Reformer Pilates teacher.
In addition to her fitness pursuits, Dunn has collaborated with former Hollyoaks co-star James Sutton on OFTV, a free-to-view platform from OnlyFans. They are featured in a competition series called "Race of Wits," which involves London-based challenges testing speed, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The first episode of the series is available to stream, with Dunn and Sutton's episode set for release on September 1.
