Singer-songwriter Role Model, who is reportedly dating actress Dakota Johnson, has revealed his aspiration to become a single father, a statement that has generated a divided response online.
During an appearance on Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast, the 29-year-old artist, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, stated, "My dream has always been to be a single father, and to have a daughter... to raise a daughter by myself would be really fun." He added that he envisions a daughter who is "ideally mine," but expressed openness to using a surrogate. Role Model explained his desire by saying, "I just want to raise a child by myself because then you can just mold them into your best friend."
These comments drew immediate reactions from various public figures and social media users. Actress Jameela Jamil responded with a simple "No," while podcaster Ryan Bailey suggested, "Maybe try it with someone else first." Conservative pundit Tomi Lahren posted a brief "Huh?" in reaction to the news.
Conversely, some defended the singer's sentiment. Actor Noah Castillero commented, "Wow this is so sweet. Aftersun movie vibes." Other fans suggested that Role Model's remarks might have been in jest, noting his frequent use of humor. "You guys do realize he jokes all the time right? And also adoption IS a thing," one fan wrote. Another added, "This is why context is so important. His personality is formed from making jokes and doing bits. He is a great person. I promise he's not someone to be skeptical about."
Some fans expressed confusion about Role Model's desire for single fatherhood, given his reported relationship with Johnson. Questions like "Wasn't he with Dakota Johnson?" and "Guess Dakota's out the picture in his future" appeared on social media.
Johnson, 36, and Role Model, 29, were first linked romantically in December and were photographed kissing in April in Los Angeles. The couple has also been seen together at events, including a Paul McCartney concert in March. This relationship follows Johnson's eight-year relationship with Chris Martin, which ended in June 2025, and Role Model's previous relationship with influencer Emma Chamberlain from 2020 to 2023.
Role Model, known for his hit "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out," has not publicly addressed the specific reactions to his podcast comments. Representatives for Role Model and Johnson have been contacted for comment.
