Reginald VelJohnson, widely recognized for his role as patriarch Carl Winslow on the sitcom "Family Matters," recently made a notable appearance on the red carpet. The 74-year-old actor attended the premiere of the film "Onslaught" at Regal LA Live in Los Angeles.

VelJohnson, who starred in "Family Matters" for its entire nine-season run from 1989 to 1998, also had a memorable role as a police officer in the 1988 action film "Die Hard" and a brief appearance in its 1990 sequel. Despite using a cane for his red carpet arrival, VelJohnson appeared healthy and in good spirits.

For the event, VelJohnson opted for a colorful and casual ensemble. He wore a peach-colored T-shirt featuring a lion graphic, paired with white trousers and animal-print, fur-covered slide-on mules. He completed the look with a trucker cap.

In a June interview with TV Insider, VelJohnson reflected on his career. He expressed a particular fondness for "Family Matters," calling it his favorite project. He praised his former costars, including Jaleel White, Jo Marie Payton, and the late Rosetta LeNoire, stating that the cast became like family to him.

VelJohnson also discussed his role in "Die Hard," where he played an officer who aids Bruce Willis's character. He credited Willis for helping him secure the part, recalling the actor saying, "I want you to do the job."

VelJohnson's upcoming film, "Onslaught," is described as a thriller where he plays a vagrant living in a trailer park who becomes involved in a conflict when a group attempts to take over the area. The film, directed by Adam Wingard, also stars Adria Arjona and Drew Starkey, and is scheduled for release on September 4.
