Rebekah Vardy posted a string of Instagram images this week showing her family enjoying outings and travel in Italy after her husband, Jamie Vardy, signed with Serie A club US Cremonese last week.
The posts, shared as the Vardys relocate from Leicester to the Lombardy region, include sun-drenched family snaps, scenes of local sightseeing and footage of private-jet travel. Rebekah Vardy, 43, is pictured in a canary-yellow maxi dress in one photo and hugging her husband in another while Jamie, 38, wears his new club kit. The couple’s five younger children — Taylor, 15; Sofia, 14; Finley, 8; and Olivia, 6 — appear in several images alongside eldest daughter Megan, 20. One caption, written in Italian, was translated by the family as: "In Italy we always feel at home."
Jamie Vardy posted on X after the move, writing: "Excited for this new journey in Italy. I can’t wait to get going with US Cremonese. New league, new challenge." He also previously shared a photograph of Rebekah embracing him and wrote: "Couldn’t do this without you!" The family left Leicester at the end of last season after 13 years in the city; Rebekah posted a farewells message on social media that praised the club and the city.
The relocation has received heightened media attention because of Rebekah Vardy’s high-profile libel dispute with Coleen Rooney, a long-running public clash widely dubbed "Wagatha Christie." In 2019 Rooney publicly accused Vardy of leaking stories about her to the press; Vardy subsequently sued for libel. In a 2022 ruling, Justice Karen Steyn said Rooney had substantially proved her allegation. Rebekah Vardy was ordered to pay a substantial share of Rooney’s legal costs, a figure reported at about £1.6 million. Rooney said after the ruling that she was "pleased" with the outcome and that she had "never believed" the case should have gone to court.
Tabloid and entertainment coverage has since followed the family’s moves and public appearances. The Daily Mail reported in April that a source close to Vardy said the player’s next contract could be significant to the family’s finances, and quoted the source as saying Vardy would hope for a move to a market where the couple could "start to rebuild her life as a public figure and hopefully start to earn again." The report also quoted the source saying the family would be seeking a contract that would allow them to maintain their lifestyle and meet legal obligations.
In her recent Instagram activity, Rebekah Vardy posted photographs of Italian meals, scenic views from their new home region and children posing beside an Italian sports car. The images and captions have been presented by the family as signs of settling in, while national press coverage continues to note the legal background and financial ramifications that followed the libel case.
The couple’s transfer marks Jamie Vardy’s first move to Italian football. Cremonese, based in Cremona, were promoted to Serie A in recent seasons and are seeking to establish themselves in the top flight. The Vardy family’s relocation to Lombardy will coincide with the club’s pre-season and opening fixtures, and the posts signal the family’s immediate presence in the region as the new campaign approaches.
