Grammy-winning singer Ray LaMontagne collapsed on stage Saturday during his performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. LaMontagne, 53, fell backwards to the floor while singing his 2004 song “Jolene.”
A fan video captured the moment, which was met with gasps from the audience as two members of LaMontagne's team rushed to his side. Shortly after the incident, LaMontagne's team released a statement via Instagram Stories.
"Ray is in good hands with the local EMS and is being treated for heat related dehydration, he is doing well now and is grateful for everyone’s understanding," the statement read, according to Consequence. The team also added that LaMontagne "is looking forward to being onstage in Louisville tomorrow night."
LaMontagne performed as scheduled at the Louisville Palace in Kentucky on Sunday. He is currently on his Trouble 20th Anniversary Tour, which began Aug. 23 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The tour celebrates his 2004 debut album, “Trouble,” which reached No. 5 on the U.K. charts. LaMontagne won a Grammy Award in 2011 for Best Contemporary Folk Album for his 2010 release, “God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise.”
The tour is scheduled to conclude Oct. 3 with three concerts at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, with upcoming shows in Philadelphia, Detroit, and Boston.
