Prince Harry was seen entering Clarence House on Wednesday amid widespread reports that he would meet his father, King Charles, though Buckingham Palace and the Duke of Sussex’s representatives had not confirmed any meeting.
The king was earlier recorded going into Clarence House after travelling to London from Scotland, and sources say Harry has been in the UK this week for a series of charity engagements in London and Nottingham. There has been no publicly confirmed face-to-face meeting between the two since early 2024.
Harry arrived back in Britain on Monday and is scheduled to leave on Thursday to return to the United States to be with his wife, Meghan, and their children, who did not accompany him on this trip. He has used the visit to carry out charity work, while questions have persisted about whether he and the monarch might reconcile after a long-running rift within the royal family.
The last reported meeting between father and son occurred soon after the king disclosed a cancer diagnosis last year, when Harry returned briefly to the UK. Thereafter, visits by the duke — including trips linked to court cases — did not include a public or confirmed private meeting with the king.
In an interview with the BBC in May 2025, Harry said he wanted reconciliation with his family and reflected on the emotional toll of the estrangement. "I would love a reconciliation with my family," he told the broadcaster, and added on other occasions that, amid concerns about health, "there's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious."
There was no immediate indication that Harry planned to meet his brother, Prince William, who has been carrying out his own engagements this week, including events marking the legacy of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Royal aides and official spokespeople from Buckingham Palace and the Duke of Sussex’s office had not issued statements confirming any discussions between Harry and the king.
Clarence House, the official residence of the Prince of Wales, has occasionally been used for family meetings and official business. Any talks between the duke and the monarch would come against a backdrop of sustained media interest in the future roles and relationships within the royal family, and in the wake of public revelations and legal disputes that have strained ties.
Royal watchers noted the logistical constraints of the visit: Harry’s brief stay and pre-planned departures make any extended talks difficult, and both sides have previously said they are open to reconciliation while offering few details about private exchanges. For now, the reported appearance at Clarence House represents the most concrete sign in weeks that contact between the duke and the monarch may be resuming, though confirmation and details remained outstanding late Wednesday.
