Sir Paul McCartney surprised fans this week when he was spotted by a Beatles tour group in his native Liverpool. The legendary musician's car pulled up alongside the tour bus at traffic lights, allowing those on board a fleeting glimpse of the star.
"Nobody really got chance to speak with him," said Morton, a tour guide who was present during the encounter. Morton, who has encountered McCartney previously during his time working at the Cavern Club, managed to take a photograph of the musician.
McCartney was in Liverpool to present actor Stephen Graham with a companionship of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA).
Graham, who hails from the Merseyside area, received the honor from the former Beatle and co-founder of the renowned performing arts school.
LIPA, co-founded by McCartney and actor Mark Rylance, is situated in the former Liverpool Institute building, which McCartney and fellow Beatle George Harrison once attended. The institute is also adjacent to the Liverpool Art College, where John Lennon studied.
