Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook, stars of the original British comedy "The Office," are set to reunite for a one-off special episode celebrating the show's 25th anniversary. The program, titled "Mackenzie Crook and Martin Freeman Remember... The Office," will air on BBC Two and iPlayer on Wednesday, July 8, at 10 p.m. This marks the first time the actors have appeared together in 15 years.

The special will feature Freeman and Crook, who played Tim Canterbury and Gareth Keenan respectively, sharing their memories of working on the groundbreaking mockumentary. They will be joined in their reflections by anecdotes from co-writer and creator Stephen Merchant, as well as memories of Lucy Davis, who portrayed Dawn Tinsdale, the object of Tim's affections.

"The Office," created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, originally aired for two seasons between 2001 and 2003. The series, which followed the mundane lives of employees at the Slough paper merchant Wernham-Hogg, is credited with pioneering the mockumentary style that has since influenced a generation of comedies. Martin and Mackenzie will come face to face for the first time in 15 years to share their memories of the show on a special episode of Remembers

During the special, Freeman and Crook are expected to recount behind-the-scenes stories, including how Freeman initially auditioned for the role of Gareth. They will also discuss Crook's memorable haircut for the character and Gervais's on-set antics. The actors will also share their perspectives on the American adaptation of the show and recount personal favorite moments from their time at Wernham-Hogg. Co-creator Stephen Merchant recently reiterated that he and Gervais have no plans to revive "The Office," stating they felt they had to pursue different creative directions after its conclusion. However, Merchant did not entirely rule out future collaborations between himself and Gervais. The duo, who also produced the U.S. version of "The Office," previously worked together on "The Ricky Gervais Show" podcast and created other comedy series such as "Life's Too Short," "An Idiot Abroad," and "Extras."

"The Office" has achieved global success, with adaptations produced in 13 countries, including Sweden, France, Germany, Brazil, India, and the United States. Merchant commented on the show's lasting cultural impact, comparing its widespread remakes to numerous artists covering a song, noting that the original artist wouldn't necessarily listen to every version.
