Nicole Kidman has stated she does not aspire to be a "cool mum" to her daughters, Sunday, 18, and Faith, 15. The Australian actress described her parenting approach as being a "rock" and a "guide" rather than a peer. "You're a mother first. You're a mother, but you're also a guide, a mentor, a safe haven, the place you can always come home to," Kidman told The Daily Telegraph.

She elaborated on this philosophy, stating, "But ultimately, as I always say to my kids, no, I'm not here to be your best friend, I'm here to actually be the person who is your rock."

Kidman recently traveled to Sydney for a screening of "Practical Magic 2." Her younger daughter, Faith, accompanied her, despite older daughter Sunday being unable to attend due to work commitments. "Sunny is working right now, so she wishes she could have been here, but Faithy got on the plane with me and she's like, 'I'm coming, you're not doing this alone,'" Kidman shared.

This commitment to family was previously highlighted by Kidman's "Lioness" co-star Zoe Saldana, who noted that Kidman consistently returned home to her daughters after filming wrapped. Saldana praised Kidman's dedication, observing, "Nicole would if she was there, but as soon as Nicole finishes, she flies home to her family."

Kidman, who shares Sunday and Faith with country music star Keith Urban, with whom she separated in September 2025, has primary residential custody following their divorce finalization in January. She also has two older children, Bella and Connor, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
