Nicolas Cage has walked back statements in which he claimed to be "a little bit homeless" following a sinkhole incident that damaged his Malibu mansion. The actor clarified that his remarks were taken out of context and were related to his inability to celebrate Halloween at his property.

Cage, 62, made the initial comments while speaking with an interviewer at Comic Con, explaining that his beachfront home had been impacted by coastal erosion. The damage, exacerbated by high tides from Hurricane Marie in September, led to evacuations for several homes on the private road.

"I meant my house is not available for trick or treaters," Cage told the Associated Press. "Now, I have to watch my words so much to the letter. We’re content. We’re fine. We’re not destitute. We’re okay."

He further elaborated that his house was not available for decorations or distributing candy to children, an activity he enjoys. Instead of hosting trick-or-treaters, Cage said he planned to take his four-year-old daughter to Santa Monica for the tradition.

The 4,000-square-foot Malibu home was purchased by Cage in 2024 for $10.5 million. The sinkhole caused significant damage, rendering the property unsafe and inaccessible for emergency services.

Cage's clarification aimed to correct any misinterpretation of his living situation, emphasizing that while his home was temporarily unusable for certain activities, he and his family were secure.
