The newly announced hosts of the BBC's "Strictly Come Dancing"—Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe—have admitted to sharing the same bewilderment as fans regarding their selection for the primetime gig.

After months of speculation about who would replace longtime presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the BBC opted for an unexpected trio. Willis, known for hosting "Big Brother" and "Cooking With The Stars"; comedian Widdicombe; and professional dancer Radebe revealed their own surprise at the decision.

Willis, 50, described the moment the BBC proposed the idea as "bonkers" but embraced the opportunity to "just have fun and see what happens." She confessed that she, Widdicombe, and Radebe were initially in disbelief about being considered for the show, let alone being put together as a presenting team. "And now we are!" she added, reflecting on the unexpected outcome.

Radebe, 39, who joined "Strictly Come Dancing" as a professional dancer in 2018, had previously envisioned a role as a judge on the show. "This was never on the cards," he stated, noting that he had only considered ways to "stick around with the show" in a judging capacity. He admitted to initially underestimating the demands of presenting, realizing "this is a different ball game" once he was involved.

Despite Radebe's background as a dancer, he assured viewers that he would not be hanging up his dancing shoes entirely. He hinted at "surprises this season" and promised that the launch show would feature more dancing than ever before.

The new presenting team has met for dinner to build rapport, but they acknowledge the pressure associated with the beloved program. Widdicombe, 43, commented that feeling nervous is a positive sign, indicating a desire to perform well. Willis emphasized the "massive sense of [duty]" they feel towards the show's devoted audience, especially considering Radebe's long tenure.

Daly, 57, and Winkleman, 54, who hosted the show for 11 years until their departure last year, have reached out to the new hosts, offering "love and congratulations" and encouraging them to "just enjoy it."

Willis has a prior connection to "Strictly," having been scouted as a contestant in 2022 alongside her husband, Matt Willis. Although they participated in dance tests, the plans were canceled when Matt Willis was offered a leading role in a West End play. Earlier, BBC producers had approached Matt Willis to appear on the show solo, but Emma Willis had expressed reservations, fearing the "Strictly curse" could impact their marriage.

This year's lineup, which includes reality stars and influencers such as celebrity hairdresser Chris Appleton, "Love Island" star Cach Mercer, and YouTuber John Nellis, has reportedly faced criticism from some fans who have labeled it the "worst ever."
