A number of celebrities attending the 2025 National Television Awards in London were singled out for questionable red carpet fashion, with Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, presenter Olivia Hawkins and Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent among those named on worst-dressed lists.

Tasha Ghouri drew particular attention for a sheer black corset dress with a tulle skirt that revealed her underwear, while Olivia Hawkins stepped out in a strapless baby-pink gown notable for decorative jewels on the back of its corset. Brooke Vincent opted for a low-key grey suit cinched at the waist with a black leather scarf, an ensemble some observers described as subdued for a high-profile awards night.

Other arrivals also prompted commentary. Anna Williamson wore a white shirt with baggy wide-leg black trousers, Anna Whitehouse selected a one-shoulder purple gown adorned with satin flowers, and Christiaan de Vries appeared in a bright pink blazer and shorts paired with black leather leg bands. Natalie Casey combined a satin salmon-pink dress with an oversized vintage jacket and chunky baby-pink platform heels, completing her look with metal-frame sunglasses despite showery weather.

The National Television Awards, launched in 1995 and decided entirely by the viewing public, took place at the O2 Arena as part of the ceremonys 30th anniversary celebrations. The evening was hosted on the red carpet by Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks for a second consecutive year, while the live broadcast of the awards was carried on ITV2.

On the programming side, the ceremony honoured a wide range of nominees across categories that reflected a busy year for British and international television. The Best Drama field included Netflix's Adolescence, which has drawn critical attention for Owen Cooper's performance, alongside Code of Silence, Ludwig, MobLand and Rivals. The Best Serial Drama contest featured Coronation Street and Emmerdale, both benefiting from placement on ITVX, against Casualty, EastEnders and Hollyoaks.

In entertainment categories, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, Love Island, Race Across the World and The Traitors vied for Reality Competition, while Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were widely tipped for the TV Presenter award. The long-running duo, who have previously won the presenter prize more than two decades in succession, were again listed among nominees that included Claudia Winkleman, Gary Lineker, Alison Hammond and Stacey Solomon.

Comedy nominations included Gavin & Stacey, Michael McIntyre's 25th Year Stand-Up Special, Brassic and Mrs Brown's Boys, with Gavin & Stacey appearing on the ballot after its long-awaited final episode in December 2024. Other categories recognised returning drama series such as Call the Midwife and Gangs of London, as well as factual and entertainment programming ranging from Clarkson's Farm to Michael McIntyre's Big Show.

The NTAs' public-voting format allowed audiences to register preferences by post, telephone and online, and organisers described the show as a celebration of the nation's most loved stars and programmes. While the evening's awards focused on industry recognition determined by viewers, much of the post-ceremony commentary centred on the red carpet, where fashion choices prompted discussion as much as the winners and nominees.

Producers distributed awards between entertainment performances throughout the evening, with the live broadcast scheduled to run into the late evening. The event combined a mixture of traditional television staples and newer successes in streaming and limited-series drama, reflecting trends in how UK viewers consumed programmes over the past year.
