Natalie Portman, 45, has shared details of her wellness regimen as she prepares for her third child, noting that the experience feels "almost like a cleanse."

In an interview with Elle magazine, Portman stated she remains vegan and prioritizes sleep, taking "lots of vitamins." She also incorporates daily physical activity, including swimming, walking, and gyrotonics. "I also feel like being pregnant is almost like a cleanse because you don’t drink and can’t have caffeine," she told the publication. "So I’m like, wow, I’ve never been cleaner in my life."

Portman announced her pregnancy with boyfriend Tanguy Destable, 46, in April. She previously welcomed son Aleph, 15, and daughter Amalia, nine, with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied.

Relocating to Paris nearly a decade ago, Portman also spoke with Elle about her perspectives on healthcare systems in France and the United States. "I find the doctors to be amazing in both places, but they do have different landmarks for pregnancy and some of the tests they recommend are different," she said.

She contrasted the two systems, describing France's as "socialized medicine," where the focus is on providing the best care for the most people without additional costs. In contrast, she observed that the U.S. system can be more business-oriented, offering optional add-ons. "Whereas, in the US, they’re like, 'Well, if you want this, we can add this.' You can see that it is also a business."

Regarding her personal life, Portman finalized her divorce from Benjamin Millepied in February 2024, after 11 years of marriage. The divorce followed reports of Millepied's alleged infidelity. Portman reportedly was "not surprised" by his swift return to the dating scene.

Portman also noted that her sense of smell has intensified during her current pregnancy. "Scent becomes much more present for me when I’m pregnant each time, for better or worse," she explained. She cited an instance at a restaurant where her heightened sense of smell alerted her to a potential problem, adding that it "must be something to warn you about danger, because I am hyperaware of gas and smoke."

Portman's father, Dr. Avner Hershlag, is a fertility specialist. In an April interview with Harper's Bazaar, she reflected on the challenges some face with conception, stating, "I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant. I have so many people I love who've had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that. It's such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it's also not an easy thing."
