Jessica Castro, an alumna of the reality series "Married at First Sight," has responded to the death of her ex-husband, Ryan de Nino. De Nino died suddenly earlier this week in New Jersey at the age of 40, according to reports.

Castro, who has not had contact with de Nino for years, shared her condolences with his family. "I do send my sincerest condolences to his family during this very difficult time," she said in a statement. "I can not imagine what they are going through. May he rest peacefully."

De Nino and Castro were married during the second season of "Married at First Sight." The couple divorced shortly after the season aired in 2015. In court documents filed at the time, Castro alleged that de Nino had made death threats against her and her family. She claimed in a petition that he said, "I will break you into f–king pieces. I will break your dad into pieces. I will make your whole family disappear — and your f–king dog-ass sister’s boyfriend." Castro also alleged that de Nino was heard on a live mic at the show's reunion taping saying, "She’s f–king dead. When I get back to Brooklyn, she’s f–king dead, this girl."

A representative for Castro stated at the time that the priority was to protect her client from "all threats to her safety and well-being."

De Nino's sister, Melissa DeNino, also shared a tribute on social media, describing him as "fiercely loyal" with a "huge heart." She wrote, "I can’t explain what it’s like to lose a sibling. Someone who’s been there from the beginning and shares the same memories. Life as I know it will never be the same."

Further details regarding de Nino's death have not been released by his family at this time.
