Actress Marilyn Hassett, 78, was recently seen in Los Angeles, marking a rare public appearance for the Golden Globe winner. Hassett was observed running errands earlier this month, dressed in a white shirt, pale pink shirt, and white pants, accessorized with a black cap and a Sprouts grocery bag.

Hassett made her acting debut at age 21 in the 1969 drama film They Shoot Horses, Don't They?. Her most recognized role came in the 1975 drama The Other Side of the Mountain, where she portrayed ski racing champion Jill Kinmont. This performance earned her a Golden Globe Award for New Star Of The Year - Actress in 1976.

The film's storyline mirrored a significant event in Hassett's own life. In 1969, she sustained a severe injury while filming a commercial when an elephant stepped on her, leaving her bedridden for five months. This experience provided her with a deeper understanding of Kinmont's story, whose own skiing career was cut short by a paralyzing crash.

In addition to The Other Side of the Mountain, Hassett collaborated with director Larry Peerce, to whom she was married from 1980 to 1984, on the films Two-Minute Warning (1976) and The Bell Jar (1979). A sequel, The Other Side of the Mountain Part 2, was released in 1978.

Hassett's acting credits also include the 1976 horror film Shadow of the Hawk, alongside Jan-Michael Vincent. Her television work spanned from 1972 to 1990, with appearances in series such as Emergency!, The Six Million Dollar Man, Movin' On, The Family Holvak, Hotel, and Murder, She Wrote.
