Margot Robbie drew attention in London on Friday as she arrived at BBC Broadcasting House to promote her new film, appearing in a butter-yellow suede waistcoat with a plunging neckline and high-waisted flared jeans. The 35-year-old actor has also been the focus of discussion this week after wearing a sheer, underwear-free Armani Privé gown at the UK premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey alongside co-star Colin Farrell.
Robbie paired the waistcoat, which featured beaded strap embellishments, with open-toe heels, slim black sunglasses and a Chanel bag. Photographs of her arrival show her smiling for cameras before interviews at the broadcaster. The premier the previous night saw her in a floor-length, crystal- and sequin-embellished Armani Privé SS25 couture gown with an open back and Aquazzura heels; Farrell attended in a trench coat over a Dolce & Gabbana suit.
Robbie, who welcomed her first child less than a year ago, has alternated between daring red-carpet choices and more conservative ensembles during recent promotional appearances. She and Farrell have also appeared together at earlier campaign events in Los Angeles, where she wore a semi-sheer mini dress with a corset top.
The actor has previously discussed her approach to diet and fitness, saying she typically allows herself indulgences but follows a stricter regimen when preparing for a role or an event. In an interview with Emirates Woman, Robbie said, "I'm not good at doing moderation. I get miserable if I don't eat. I can't just have a salad every day and a half a glass of wine every second day. I can't do it." She added that in the lead-up to premieres or when she needs to be in peak shape she will cut out saturated fats, fast food, sugary drinks and chocolate.
Robbie described examples of her cleaner eating plan: breakfasts of porridge with blackberries or a "green machine" smoothie made with kale and apple; lunches such as lemon chicken with brown rice or mackerel salad with tomatoes and cucumber; and dinners that include tuna steaks with sweet potato or a vegetable hot pot with rice noodles. At the same time, she said she enjoys "beer, fries, burgers" and is likely to swing between extremes rather than follow a daily strict moderation. "If I have to get into a bikini then I'll eat carrot sticks for three days. I'm one extreme or the other," she said.
On exercise, Robbie has described a long-term commitment to cardio and strength training. She cited intense cardio, running, boxing and leg workouts among her regular activities, and recounted increasing strength training while preparing for the 2017 film I, Tonya. After meeting the real Tonya Harding, Robbie said she shifted focus to core strength. She also credited boxing and leg work when discussing preparation for roles such as her 2016 appearance in Suicide Squad.
Robbie's recent wardrobe choices and public comments about fitness continue a pattern of high-profile, closely watched promotional work following her Oscar-nominated performances and mainstream hits. Public appearances tied to A Big Bold Beautiful Journey and other projects have underscored both her changing red-carpet aesthetics and the physical preparation she says she undertakes for film roles.
