Her performance began with a rendition of her 2000 hit "Music," infused with elements of "Disco Inferno" and "Danceteria." Madonna made a grand entrance onto the field in a dune buggy, accompanied by Brazilian soccer legends Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, and a troupe of roller skaters.
Performance Ensemble
The singer's custom Saint Laurent outfit was designed with a sporty aesthetic, complementing the World Cup theme. It included a zip-up lurex Diesel top layered under a bespoke varsity jacket personalized with her name. A notable element of the ensemble was a buckled corset, paired with silky hot pants, fishnet tights, and lavender thigh-high stockings. The look was completed with tall lace-up boots, all rendered in a "Confessions II" color palette of pink and purple.
Adding to the visual spectacle, Madonna wore a custom bedazzled referee's whistle around her neck. Her custom fingerless goalkeeper gloves by Le Rhinestud were also encrusted with gems.
Embellishments and Glamour
Stylist Rita Melssen incorporated a significant amount of Swarovski jewelry into Madonna's look. Among the pieces were a fuchsia Millenia necklace and an Una Angelic chain featuring a crystal-embellished whistle. Custom crystal hoop earrings also adorned her.
Giovanna Engelbert, Swarovski's Global Creative Director, noted in a press release that the Millenia collection represents bold self-expression, aligning with Madonna's influential status. Engelbert stated it was an honor to collaborate on these custom pieces.
For her makeup, artist Marcelo Gutierrez utilized Kiko Milano products. The look included a foundation, high-pigment eyeshadows in shades of mauve, lilac, white, and pink, blush, lipstick, and lip gloss. A final touch of crystals was applied to the inner and outer corners of Madonna's eyes, sparkling beneath her shield-style Dior sunglasses.
