Madonna celebrated her 68th birthday with a lively party in Kouramades, a small village on the island of Corfu known for its appearance in the ITV series "The Durrells." The festivities, which lasted until 2 a.m. on Sunday, saw the singer dancing in the streets with her children and boyfriend, Akeem Morris.
The village, home to just 180 residents, became the setting for Madonna's celebration. She reportedly booked the traditional local taverna Atzaro and arranged for an Italian children's choir to perform. Intense security measures were in place, including a police presence.
Guests enjoyed traditional meals as the choir performed. Around midnight, the group began dancing to "Zorba The Greek" before a birthday cake was presented. Madonna blew out candles on a heart-shaped cake adorned with an eye symbol, and the celebration continued with dancing.
Among those attending were Madonna's daughters Lourdes Leon, 29, Mercy James, 20, and twins Stella and Estere, 13, as well as son Rocco Ritchie, 26. Her boyfriend, Akeem Morris, 30, was also present. Her son David Banda, 20, was not seen at the event.
Madonna wore multiple outfits throughout the evening, including an ornate Dolce & Gabbana dress with a floral headpiece and a second ensemble featuring a sheer white dress, gold chains, and a shawl. Lourdes and Rocco were seen participating in traditional Greek dancing.
Madonna shared a message on social media, writing, "It's My Birthday! Eat, Pray, Love,Drink, Dance, Break plates, Feed Cats!! Thank you G*D!"
This celebration follows the release of Madonna's latest album, "Confessions II." She also recently received 11 nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards, more than any other artist, including a nomination for Video of the Year for "Confessions II (The Film)." Her daughter Lourdes is featured on the song "The Test" from the album.
