Love Island winners Julia Majchrzak and Lorenzo Alessi have announced their separation, just two months after securing the £50,000 prize money. The couple, who were a fan favorite, attended the National Television Awards together on Tuesday, but Majchrzak confirmed on Instagram that they had decided to go their separate ways.
"Since leaving the villa, we've come to the decision to go our separate ways," Majchrzak wrote in a post accompanied by photos of the pair at the NTAs. "Some chapters are special even if they're not meant to last forever. We shared an unforgettable experience together, and those memories will always hold a special place in my heart."
Majchrzak also shared her feelings about the breakup in an interview with Polish publication Super Express, admitting that the transition from the isolated environment of the Love Island villa to real life had been challenging. "Life in the villa is completely different from life outside," she stated. "We're disconnected from the outside world, from our phones… Two months removed from the world. We were getting to know each other there and getting along great, but it wasn't real life."
She described the period after leaving the villa as overwhelming and stressful, leading to their decision to separate for now. Majchrzak became emotional during the interview, noting that while they shared a unique experience, the difficulties of adjusting to reality had put a strain on their relationship. "No one else will understand me like he does, because we've been through it together, so we share that experience, but at this point, we've made this decision," she said.
Alessi has not yet commented on the split. The couple's relationship faced scrutiny shortly after their return to the UK. During an appearance on Capital XTRA, Majchrzak accused Alessi of embarrassing her by liking photos of other models on social media. Alessi explained this as a result of not having seen her photos on his feed yet, attributing it to his naivete about real-world perceptions and his learning process in a committed relationship.
Prior to the breakup announcement, the couple appeared together on ITV's This Morning. When asked about the rumors of a split, Alessi described their status as "exclusively dating," while Majchrzak confirmed they were still dating. Alessi mentioned that they were still getting used to life outside the villa and planned to go on dates once things settled down, though Majchrzak questioned when these dates would occur. Their only confirmed date since leaving the villa was a dinner that evening, which they posted about on social media.
