Love Island star Malin Andersson says she is training to become a midwife after relocating to Barcelona. The influencer, 32, announced the new path in a series of Instagram Stories, saying that after losing her first child Consy in 2019 and giving birth to daughter Xaya in 2022, she wants to use her voice from a 'more rooted place'.
"I've decided to start training as a midwife. After everything I've experienced in life and motherhood, I feel called to walk alongside women at one of the most sacred thresholds of life." She wrote, adding that this isn't about 'giving up' on her voice, but grounding it in something deeply real. "This isn't me 'giving up' on my voice or speaking it's me grounding it in something deeply real. I'll always continue sharing, writing and creating, but this time it will come from an even more rooted place." She also noted that as she begins her studies, she is open to working with brands and projects that align with this new path, listing: family, wellness, lifestyle, education, motherhood, and that anything helping support her and her daughter during the leap means a lot. "This is a big transition and I know I won't walk it alone. If you feel called to connect, collaborate, or co-create in this season, my inbox is open." She later added: "I have the experience of losing a baby, having a baby, pre natal and post natal depression and raising a child without parents." She said she wants to put that to good use... maybe she can use her voice and platform to help improve things. Who knows. A spiritual midwife eh."
Malin, who has spoken openly about her mental health struggles since appearing on Love Island in 2016, also recently revealed that she is relocating to Barcelona. Earlier this year, she posted a video update sharing that she and her daughter Xaya were in Madeira before moving on to their next chapter in Barcelona. In the video, she described leaving a life she had known since childhood: her mother had moved the family from Sweden to the United Kingdom when she was three, and Bedfordshire had been her home for most of her life. She said there was nothing left in England for her, no house or car, and that she needed adventure, travel, joy, and a sense of happiness beyond her current life.
The new path comes amid a history of personal challenges, including the loss of her mother in 2017 to stomach cancer and the loss of Consy in 2019 due to complications from being born premature. She has also spoken about a difficult relationship with a former partner who faced legal issues, and she has discussed past struggles with body image, mental health, and questions about sexuality as part of her broader journey. In March, she said she had questioned her sexuality, noting she had never felt entirely safe around men and had grown up without a father figure to show her how love should be.
Through the posts and public reflections, Andersson underscored that the shift toward midwifery marks a deeper professional and personal pivot. She emphasized that while she will continue sharing, writing, and creating content, the new focus will come from a more grounded place intended to support women through one of life’s most profound moments. Her public message also positioned the move as part of a broader search for stability, joy, and a sense of purpose after years of upheaval. The update has drawn attention from followers who have long supported her candid discussions about motherhood, resilience, and mental health, and some expressed encouragement for the path she described embracing now in Europe.
